5) .mixtikl files

These are text files that list all the loops and sound FX used in a mix, as well as the mix tempo, root, key mix information etc. When you save your mix, you are saving a mix file.

Note: NO AUDIO or MIDI etc DATA is saved in a mix file, so you may share your mix files.

Note: Most Tiklpaks/Paks will be governed by a Licence Agreement, which will mean you will not be allowed to share the samples/loops in the Pak (in relation to Intermorphic Tiklpaks, see the Intermorphic Tiklpak EULA).

You MUST have at least one mix file in a Construction Kit Pak.

  1. Create an empty text file, paste into it the text below, and save it in your Pak directory (e.g. MyName_MyPak) as e.g MyPakTest.mixtikl

  2. Start Mixtikl (close and re-open already open)
  3. Select the Performer app from the menu
  4. Select Menu > Open and select your Pak "MyName_MyPak"
  5. Create a Remixer track
    1. For tracks 1-11 select each of the content cells in Section 1 (there is a 1 shown at the bottom of this column), and add in the content element you want from your Pak
    2. For any tracks that you want to be "1 shot" loops, select the cell in column 7 for that track, and select Spot:Remixer from the Track Option screen. The setting for normally looping cells should be "no". The buttons for the two settings will then show a different colour in Remixer. [CHECK: can this be handled automaticaly in the app?]
    3. Adjust any of the track volumes and pans, as necessary (column 1)
    4. To add global FX to the mix (if required), select your FX as a global FX (top button on column 7) (this becomes FX3), then select another FX (this becomes FX2) and then again (this becomes FX1). The FX settings are populated by a MRU (Most Recently Used) list, where FX1 is the last used effect. You can clear FX settings by selecting Clear from the FX list.
    5. Select Menu > Mix Actions > Save Mix File, and name your file
    6. Now, select Menu > Apps > Remixer to see your Remixer track and try it out.
    7. If OK, then create a “key mix” (Mix Automation) which you will also save to the mix file. To do this, press the black round record button and select “Capture Mix Automation”. Then press the keys in an order to create a sensible mix. You can play the mix again by pressing the play button (check that the loops come in when expected, and on the beat!). You can clear out the key mix ( Menu, Mix Actions, Clear Mix Automation) and try again until you are happy. Then select Menu, Mix Actions, Save Mix File to save the mix file with the key mix in it.
    8. Do the same for every mix file you want/need. You can include as many .mixtikl files as you like in a Pak
  6. Create a Performer track
    1. Do the same as in 1 above, but also add in any content you want for sections 2-4 (these sections are not visible and will not play in Remixer)
    2. For any tracks that you want to be "1 shot" loops, select the cell in column 7 for that track, and select Spot:Performer from the Track Option screen [CHECK: can this be handled automaticaly in the app?].
    3. As 3 above
    4. To add FX to any track (if required), select the last column for that track (Track FX). You can clear FX settings by selecting Clear from the FX list.
    5. Select Menu > Mix Actions > Save Mix File, and name your file.
    6. Do the same for every mix file you want/need. You can include as many .mixtikl files as you like in a Pak
  7. Now that you have created your customised .mixtikl file, delete the placeholder mix file, e.g MyPakTest.mixtikl
