product recipes and ideas

In this page we will be noting down a number of potential applications for noatikl. They may be frivilous, fun or serious. The first is the personal interactive relaxation system.

1 - personal interactive relaxation system

Many people lead busy, ever more complex lives. They find it harder to relax and unwind enough to help keep their head above the waterline of information overload. These people might find they enjoy a personal interactive relaxation system powered by Intermorphic noatikl.

Primarily for use when in bathrooms (yours, hotel rooms etc.), but could be used anywhere.

lie back and imagine...

A product that generates relaxing music, but that also lets you easily create musical doodles as it plays. The music is always fresh and personal to you, and to a very moment in time.

bathtime delight

You are lying back in the bath, luxuriating in a rare moment of privacy, silence and stillness - which you need so badly. The water is piping hot, helping you relax and unwind, soothing away your aches and worries. To heighten the effect, you may even have lit some candles, the everchanging flicker of light dancing over your drowsy eyes. You had considered having your favourite music playing quietly on your mobile or stereo, or even your favourite radio station (if you are in a hotel room you probably have no access to a favourite radio station anyhow), but decided not to, as there is something about that that anchors you to this world, to your memories - and you want to be free.

Instead of an accompaniment of silence, though, imagine that when you tap the water or make a small sound you could experience a subtle musical doodle that also fits perfectly with the entrancing musical backdrop. Wouldn't that be cool? You could escape for a few moments into your own musical world, and maybe come out more refreshed. If not that, then it would at least have been a period of mesmeric fun.

recipe

  • one mobile phone (higher end smartphone or even PDA).
  • one Intermorphic Noatikl player (mobile version).
  • one audio to MIDI VST plugin.
  • one/many suitable VST sound sources e.g. synths or sampler plugins.
  • a selection of appropriate Noatikl chillout pieces.

instructions

  • Install the Noatikl player and VST software plugins onto the phone (they could be pre-installed, too).
  • Run the software and load the pieces.
  • Run a hot bath, and put the phone by the bath.
  • Get in the bath and splash around (the splashing sounds and noises are picked up by the mic on the phone, and then converted into MIDI events [audio > MIDI VST plugin] that “trigger” Noatikl as it is generating its music).
  • Relax to your own gentle, personal composition.
