Import

Lets you import mixes, files and recordings as follows (see Figure 1):

Note: Android users can also refer to here.

  • Mixtikl Data From Clipbard:
    • Imports into Mixtikl a mix that has been pasted to the clipboard, perhaps copied from an email, tweet or forum posting. Once imported into Mixtikl, you can save the mix file.
  • Files via iTunes (iOS & Mixtikl (Full) only):
    • See also: Installing & Transferring Paks, Tiklpaks and Files
    • This is the simplest and best way to get audio samples and recordings into Mixtikl:
      1. Connect your iPad (iOS 3.2 or later) or iPhone / iPod touch (iOS 4.0 or later) to iTunes.
      2. From your desktop computer, drag the files you want to copy (into the User Content folder in Mixtikl) onto the iTunes Apps File Sharing right hand window (see also Apple info on this: iTunes Apps File Sharing) having first selected Mixtikl on the left. Make sure you put these files into the top level in this window, and not a sub-directory.
      3. Sync (copies files FROM mixtikl to iTunes, and TO mixtikl from iTunes)
      4. Then, select Main Menu > Import > Files via iTunes to complete the import.
  • Audio Sample from Clipboard (iOS only)
    • To import audio samples from the Apple General Pasteboard or via Sonoma AudioPaste, select the content cell to which you want to import, select the Content Cell menu, press the Import button and follow the onscreen instructions. Further details on Sonoma AudioPaste.
  • Files via Local Network (iOS and Desktop only)
    • Selecting this menu item opens the Copy files screen so that you can copy files to this version of Mixtikl from another version on the same local network. Note that this method is for small files only, and the primary copy mechanism is via iTunes.

Export and Tweet

The Export Menu (Figure 2) is how you export your mixes and tweet your mixtikls. It is very easy to do.

Note: Android users can also refer to here.

  • "mixtikl" as Tweet
    • Your mix is then copied to the clipboard and you see a pop up message. You are advised there are 2 formats, one for pasting into a tweet where the tweet app will auto-shorten a link for you, and the other where you want to paste it into an email or shorten yourself by using one of the URL shortener services (this is in case the tweet app does not auto-shorten correctly). See the FAQ for further details.
  • "mixtikl" to Clipboard
    • Your mix is then copied to the clipboard for you to e.g. paste into an email.
  • "mixtikl" via Mail (iOS & Desktop only)
    • Your mix is then copied to the clipboard and then inserted into a new email.
  • Via iTunes (iOS only)
  • Files via Local Network (iOS & Desktop only)
    • Opens the Share files screen so that you can share files from this version of Mixtikl to another version on the same local network.
  • Mix Recordings Via Clipboard (iOS only)
    • To copy mix audio recordings to the Apple General Pasteboard or via Sonoma AudioCopy, select the Mix Record button, select and expand the Options item, then select Copy to Clipboard and then select the item you want to copy to the clipboard. Further details on Sonoma AudioCopy.
